Rates
Clients prefer a per-project estimate for editing servicesUnderstandably, people like to get a sense of a project’s cost before they contract editing services. Many editors charge an hourly rate. I’ve learned most of my clients prefer a per-word rate. I like that system too. Pages in a document can greatly vary, but a word count is a word count.
However, each editing job is different. It’s more expedient for both of us if I review your document and understand your needs before I return a FREE sample edit and an estimate to you.
Conditions affecting the per-word rate
- Level of editing requested or recommended.
- Quality of the authorship.
- Technical depth of the content.
- Additional research, if any, required.
- Revisions required.
- Number of approvals required.
- Number of revisions required.
- Rush deadlines.
- Quantity and quality of charts and figures in text.
NB: Rewrites and original writing are quoted on a per-project basis.
Amounts expressed in Canadian funds. A minimum charge of $20.00 applies.
Payment
Projects estimated at $200 or more require a signed agreement. Payment is due on delivery of edited material.
